Shining a light on political party funding
In this investigation the Bureau looks into all aspects of political party fund raising. We are interested in transparency around political donations to establish any areas of potential influence.
Our investigations have examined the extent of political donations to the Conservative Party from financial services, the lack of transparency around party political fundraising events and the sectors supporting the Labour Party.

In 2014 the Bureau of Investigative Journalism was leaked documents relating to last year’s Conservative Summer Party.
Attendees at this private event had paid up to £1,000 a ticket, or had been invited by table sponsors.
Guests revealed by the investigation included:
73 from the financial sector
47 from the retail and property sector
19 lobbyists and public affairs representatives
And 10 from the extractive industries sector
Also at the event were Russians with links to the Kremlin and shipping magnates
