The Bureau is hiring: Apply to be our new Operations Manager

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism is looking to hire an Operations Manager.

This part-time role involves running the Bureau office, overseeing accounts and spending, overseeing all HR functions, supporting journalists in an operations role as well as organising our events and producing marketing materials.

This is an exciting role for the right candidate to join the oldest and largest not-for-profit news organisation in the UK at a crucial and exciting point in the our development.

We are looking for a candidate with several years of experience in production management or general office management, who is keen to join an innovative and fast-growing organisation that is focused on impact and change in society.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to manage difficult projects from office moves to organising journalistic trips to hostile environments
  • Able to understand and deal with accounts
  • Able to use complex spreadsheets
  • A self-starter
  • Able to take on a high level of responsibility
  • Discreet and honest
  • Capable of managing a number of projects at the same time
  • Somebody with immense amounts of initiative

The role will require up to 28 hours a week. These hours can be spread across the week in any way that best suits the candidate. There is much scope for a flexible role.

The role would ideally suit a professional parent keen to juggle a challenging and rewarding role with the demands of caring for a family.

The salary is up to £34,000, for a 28 hour week.

We are looking for somebody who can ideally start before April.
